Why arcade racers just feel better on phones
Every time I try a serious racing sim on a touchscreen I end up frustrated. There's too much nuance to convey through tilt or a glass button. Arcade racers sidestep the whole problem.
Neon Drift Club is my go-to example. It's built around one satisfying action, the drift, and everything else supports it. You don't need pedal precision, you need timing and rhythm, which phones do well.
If you're getting into these, spend time in the settings. Switching between tilt and touch steering changed the whole game for me, and most people never try the other option.
Short tracks are your friend on mobile too. A three-minute race that you can restart instantly beats a fifteen-minute lap you have to abandon when your stop arrives.
