Not every game needs to grab you by the collar. There's a whole category of gentle simulations designed to be checked in on, not binged, and I've come to love them.

Greenhouse Tycoon is the one that got me hooked lately. The plant breeding gives you a long-term goal, while the day-to-day is just a calm few taps to water and harvest.

The best of these sims never punish you for stepping away. Real-time timers can be a trap when they pressure you, so I look for ones where waiting is optional rather than a wall.

Pair a cozy sim with your morning routine and it becomes a nice little ritual. That's a different kind of fun from an action game, and just as valid.
